Tall Cylinders

One of our weddings this past weekend used one of our most popular items - tall cylinders. They are typically used as centerpieces and are easy to design to suit any style of wedding. Sand and stone are placed in the cylinder for tropical themed weddings and any style of florals can be arranged in them as well.

I am excited to announce that as of yesterday afternoon, I am the proud owner of "Treasured Times by Three Sisters", a wedding coordination and wedding rental business. I have been mentoring with the previous owners for a few months and I will continue to work with them as we make this transition seamless for our clients.

Congrats to Alyson and Johnathon who were married over Labor Day weekend. Their base color was "great lakes" blue and the accents were subtle in both green and pink.

New Card Rack

Lacey & Huley

This fall wedding is sure to be gorgeous. The bride, Lacey, has chosen a color palette of shimmer brown, dark purple, deep orange, dark green, and museum white. The theme of the wedding is "romantic autumn". The invitations are going out in the mail soon and then we will move onto working with Lacey on coordinating menu cards and ceremony programs.

Design for Summer 2010

Nicole and Justin are tying the knot in June 2010. The colors for their wedding includes various shades of purple. The invitation design they have chosen suits them perfectly: utilizing 2 shades of purple and a flower punch that they will use on other pieces of their wedding stationary later (possibly programs and thank you notes).

We just completed wedding ceremony programs for Shelby and Kurt. They are tying the knot next weekend. Previously we also designed invitations for Shelby and Kurt. Their invitations and their programs coordinate perfectly as we used the same materials for both pieces: lily pond green paper, black sheer ribbon, and their name plate on the front.

I met with Desiree last week and together we designed an invitation for her September 15th, 2009 wedding to Joe. She chose pinecone as her base color, the print will be on a soft off-white, and the accents are a deep red, marigold, and gold.

Last week we completed invitations for a September wedding. Alyson created her own save-the-dates and had used a blue "W" stamp (the groom's last name begins with a W) on them. Wedding Cake Martini

As we kick-off the weekend, here is a drink recipe to try. This sounds light and fruity...perfect for a summer evening. Especially to all you brides out there....sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Wedding Cake Martini

2 ounces Vanilla Vodka
1 ounce Pineapple Juice
1 ounce Cranberry Juice
1 teaspoon Artificial Sweetener

1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
2. Strain into a martini glass and enjoy!

Place Cards

Here is a picture I snapped a few weeks ago. We designed these place cards for Emily & Danny who were married on May 16th in Indianapolis.

Emily is the crafty-type and so Emily & Danny chose to assemble their wedding invitations and programs themselves (ask about our Do-It-Yourself option!), but because the place cards were printed and assembled so close to the wedding date, Walnut Street Cards pieced those together for them.

'I don't know what to write!"

A comment that I hear regularly is "I don't know what to write!". People say this when referring to a greeting card they are planning to send to another person. I am going to share with you my basic guidelines to use when you are struggling with what to write inside a card.

1) How do you feel at the moment? How does the occasion for this card make you feel? For example: "I am so excited for your wedding day!"

2) Think about what you like/love about the recipient and then tell them. For example, do you love their humor, their kindness, or their fashion sense? It can be anything! Tell them why you think they are a great person.

3) What is your motivation for sending this card? Is it to wish a happy birthday, congrats to a newly married couple, or to thank someone for an act of kindness? Tell them the purpose for the card.

By following the simple guidelines above and asking yourself those questions, I guarantee you will be able to compose the perfect message for the card you are sending.

Amy & Greg were married on a beach last winter surrounded by close family and friends. They celebrated a few weeks ago with a reception in Greg's hometown. The blue on the reception (pictured above) coordinates with colors used at the wedding ceremony.

"Wedding" Stamps from the USPS

The United States Postal Service has issued it's new "wedding" stamps for 2009 and they are adorable! If your wedding invitation weighs one ounce or less, then the wedding ring stamp is for you ($.44 each). For wedding invitations weighing between one and two ounces, the wedding cake (my personal favorite!) is the stamp for you ($.61 each).

On Thursday we will be completing Wedding Programs for a local wedding this upcoming weekend. Katie and Matt are saying "I Do" Saturday afternoon. Katie chose a tall program with 4 pages of information inside printed on white. The "R" on the front is the first letter of Matt's last name- and soon to be Katie's last name.
